Why are you running for school board?

It’s time for a new vision by someone who’s not afraid to take questions.

How will you use your experiences and background to approach your role as a member of the school board?

I’ve been a salesman for 47 years in the local area. I talk to people every day. I’m very approachable. People need to have someone that they can count on and can talk to.

Which do you believe is more important for achieving higher academic achievement: greater funding or better reforms? Briefly explain.

I think funding helps a lot, but you have to have the right people distributing the money and making sure that the teachers have exactly what they need in order to teach.

Name 1 or 2 changes or policies you will support that will raise the academic achievement of all students in your district.

Back to the basics kids need to be challenged and only the teacher can challenge them so the teacher needs everything they need in order to teach the kids properly.

What changes should be made at schools to make the classroom a more effective environment for maximizing learning and instruction (teaching)?

Making sure there’s a resource officer in every building but above all, actions have consequences. If a child does something wrong or is touching or pushing on a teacher there needs to be consequences and discipline

Many educators say that not all parents are engaged enough with their children's education.

How can the school board create policies that help forge a closer relationship and involvement among parents, their children and educators?

More progress reports being sent out to let the parent know how the child is doing. Also making sure that the parent is well informed of what’s going on in the district.

Recent federal executive orders for K-12 schools prohibit schools from promoting gender and radical ideologies. Another order prohibits boys from girls' sports and restrooms. Schools that don't comply could risk federal funds.

How do you believe the school board should respond to these orders?

The school board needs to institute these laws into our bylaws. If this is what’s asked of the school to do, then we should do it. Children come to school to learn; there’s enough distractions.
